Duo v2 and PS3
I've just bought a ReadyNAS Duo V2 primarily to backup my dvd's and to play them via my PS3 and I have some problems in that regard that I hope somebody can help me with.
I've running my ReadyNAS in raid-0 and my computer is running Win7 pro.
1: I've deleted the pre-made share "backup" and kept "media". In the share "media" I've created a folder called "video" and copied a few files into that folder. When I access my ReadyNAS I can see the folder "video" and the files in it but I also see 3 other folders "videos", "music" and "pictures" that I hasn't created and cannot access or even see on my computer neither via Windows Explorer nor ReadyNAS Dashbord. However if I access my ReadyNAS via Windows Media Player I see the same 3 folders plus another 1 called "recorded tv" as well as the folder I created myself. How do I either access or delete these folders??
2: If I delete a file or folder I can still see them on my PS3 (but not on my computer) and I can still access the folder (but not the file). How do I delete files and folders so they are no longer visible on my PS3??
It seems like there is a log-file over the ReadnyNAS folder structure and content that my PS3 can access which isn't updated when files and folders are deleted.
I've tried with DLNA in both on and off but it doesn't seems to matter (I can still access the media content with DLNA in off)

- JarnoGGuideWelcome to ReadyNAS! :)
About the first: ReadyDLNA organizes your data in two ways for you. One is the folder structure in which you store your files. The other one is in virtual folders sorted by media type. It sorts all video's together, all music together and all photo's. You can then search through those media types by type-specific properties like genre, artist, etc.
The second can be two things.
- ReadyDLNA should keep track of the changes in the folders. However, it might take a (short) while. In some cases it does not automatically update, then you can manually update the database via Dashboard. (at least, that's how it works on my Ultra, I'm assuming it works approximately the same on the Duo v2)
- The PS3 does not reload the folder content each time a folder is accessed. So if the PS3 doesn't ask for an update, you can only find out if a file is gone by opening it. You can try to make the PS3 reload the folder by browsing to a different media server and then back or by manually making it search for media servers. - KornmodAspirantHi JarnoG.
First of all thanks for your reply.

I don't have ReadyDLNA installed. I use the build in DNLA function (from what I read then it's only Duo v2 and NV+ v2 that has this) but I suppose it doesn't make any difference. I can always see the 3 media folders but whenever I access the folders I can't see any files, neither those that are in the root directory nor those that are in the folder I’ve created, and it doesn’t make any difference whether DLNA is on or off. If I browse by folder I can see all the files in that folder.

I can't find where to update the DB manually and I think I read in one of the other threads that the v2 units don't have such a button. I have both tried to restart my PS3 as well as reload the mediaserver list (I read in a PS3 forum that when you do that, the directory structure is updated.) And once again I've tried with DLNA in both on and off. - JarnoGGuideIf you have DLNA off on your Duo v2, the PS3 should not find your NAS as media server unless you have an other media server add-on installed. ReadyDLNA is the DLNA-server add-on that is pre-installed on your NAS, you can find more info here.
Reloading the mediaserver list on the PS3 has always worked in the past for me (using ReadyDLNA on my Ultra 2). I don't have any experience with the ARM models, so I'm afraid you'll have to wait till someone answers who does. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredFirst try updating to the latest ReadyDLNA: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=27946
If that still doesn't fix the problem you could force the DLNA database to be rebuilt using this add-on: http://rnasguide.com/wp-content/addons/arm/DLNAREBUILDDB_0.1-arm.bin - KornmodAspirantI have tried to install ReadyDLNA, ReadyDLNA debug toggle and DLNA rebuild db add-on's as suggested. In the log it says that the add-on's were installed successfully but when I check which add-on's there are installed it only shows ReadyNAS Photo II (pre-installed) and ReadyNAS remote. Also now I can't find any files on my ReadyNAS via the PS3 even with DLNA turned on. I've tried to restart both the ReadyNAS and the PS3 as well as reloading the mediaserver list.
- KornmodAspirantI have now restored the ReadyNAS to factory defaults (for the 3rd time) and finally it seams to work as I want it to. I now have access to the 3 media folders (music, video and pictures) and files and folders disappear on my PS3 mediaserver when deleted.
One thing though. I have tried to install DLNA rebuild DB (ARM version). The system log says that the add-on was installed successfully but it doesn't show under the "installed add-on's" and nothing seams to be changed in the other menus. Any ideas?? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retired

That's expected. All it does is stop ReadyDLNA, delete the DLNA database then restart ReadyDLNA forcing the database to be rebuilt. If you download the logs you should see in upnp-av.log that the database has been rebuilt.
The ReadyDLNA update add-on updates ReadyDLNA and the Toggle Debug add-on toggles on/off debug mode for ReadyDLNA with more verbose logging. Neither of these add-ons require a web interface either.
