Duo v2: Device is Offline

Anyone any idea what this means?

Came across it when connecting to Dashboard to check on Diskspace usage, not because of any issue - as I haven't had any.

Running firmware 5.3.3.

BTW - the time referenced in the dialog is PM even though it doesn't indicate it, and was the time I connected to the NAS. There doesn't appear to be any way to get v5 firmware to use non US formats for data & time (eg 24hr notation and dd/mm/yy)

I think this error can also be got if you open the Dashboard before the NAS has completed booting. If you still get the problem after waiting a little and reloading the Dashboard you should contact NetGear support for assistance and post your case number. Preferably in a thread started by you with the case number in the thread title (i.e. subject of first post in the thread).
  • I've tried reinstalling OS and firmware still can't seem to access readydrop or readynas remote. Also, I don't see anywhere that you can add users to access it like you could in 5.3.5
  • I have exactly the same problem with an NV+ v2

I installed 2 x Seagate 3TB disks using RAID-X (which are on the hardware compatibility list). Moved a stack of data from a full windows server and all seemed to be fine. Shut down for the night and on the next reboot the Ready NAS comes up offline. I have tried re-installing the O/S but to no avail, and I can't access the shares.

    Two other snags with these...

    1) you can't take the disc out and pop it in another machine as they use a non standard disc format / RAID scheme
    2) If you use it to back up a windows server and have it integrated with AD and the Windows server fails you can't access the data because you don't have a domain controller.

These aren't fit for any kind of purpose and I'm really not pleased.

    1) Incorrect. EXT4 is a standard Linux filesystem and considered by many to be the best for Linux at this time. Easy enough to put the disk in a Linux machine, use mdadm to start the RAID, do a vgscan to discover the data volume, run vgchange -ay c, then mount /dev/c/c/ mnt to mount the data volume.

    2) If you need high availability in an AD environment you shouldn't rely on a single domain controller. Also I'd argue if you need that going for the cheapest of the ReadyNAS units isn't the best idea either.
