Firmware update and ReadyNAS File Systems

I would like to know which File Systems in the ReadyNAS OS are not impacted by a firmware update.

Probably

/data

/media

/home

/apps

But is

/root

also not overwritten by a firmware update?

(there are scripts in it I'd like to keep)

I would suggest you make sure that the backup of your custom scripts is up to date before installing a firmware update.

Any file not listed under /etc/default/config may well be overwritten on a firmware update by a file with the same name.

      Thanks.

So it is indeed very unlikely there is a file name collision in /root...

Still with custom scripts it is possible that depending on how it is done you may encounter unpredictable behaviour. So best to make sure your backup is up to date before doing a firmware update.
