IP Address "This Site Can Not Be Reached"
Hi Everyone, I have a few issues...
1. I received the email this morning the possible security issues and was attempting to take steps to change my passwords and update my info when all of the sudden my IP address worked one minute then wouldn't the next. The page just keeps saying "This site can not be reached." I haven't been able to get it back all afternoon. I've tried different arrangments of the numbers as suggested in earlier posts, gone on Youtube, called tech support and explained I couldn't afford their $90 fee for help. I've texted friends but am still waiting to hear back but am at a lost. I've already manually reset my IP address by going to Wireless Settings, Properties etc but it still doesn't register. Can anyone help? I'm at a loss and frankly I'm not sure how big of an issue this is since I still have internet and it seems everything is up and working? But I'm not a techie so I'm completely in the dark about how bad it could be that your IP address isn't reachable.
2. I was able to reset my password on my pc and am all good there but for some reason on my Genie App on my phone its still coming up as user name: admin leaving me unable to change it. This would be fine if it would accept my password or any of the password, I've tried my new one, my old one and even the word "password" but nothing will go through. I've uninstalled the app and reinsallted it but still it comes up asking my to sign in with user name: admin and some unknown password.
3. In the email we were asked to diasble remote access. With everything that went wrong I never even got to this step. How do we do this?

Welcome to the community!
1. How did you access the router admin page? Is it through a wired or a wireless computer?
I would suggest that you use a wired computer to access it.
What's the IP address of the computer that you're using to access the admin page?
This link should help you know the correct IP address to use to access the admin page and change the password.
2. Once you have done number 1, can you try to access the admin page using the browser? If that works, this should also work on the Genie.
3. Remote Access is disabled by default but just to be sure it's still best to verify. Once you have passed item number 1 then you should be able to verify if it is disabled.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately tried both wired and wireless. Got 2 different IP addresses and both wouldn't work. I'm familar with the command promt, thank you for the link. Thats how I accessed it before. I just don't know the PC lingo.
I have no clue what's going on or even if its a big deal. My internet is up, my wifi is up but none of the IP addresses that come up are being recognized. I'm worried about hackers and someone else using my IP address but is that an issue I need to be concerned about? Still no word from techie friends.

The "Admin Page" you mentioned. Thats what I could use a link for. For what ever reason I'm having a huge problem navogating around Netgear's website. I can not figure out how to get back to the page that shows all my activity, not my profile but my dashboard of sorts. Am I on the wrong website? Netgear.com?

Can you post a screenshot of your command prompt showing the IP addresses?
