Newbie: can't see NAS in Wifi connection
Hallo, I just bought a Duo v2 and attached it with a cable to my home network (DG3700 router) and installed the software on a Win7 PC.
Now in Explorer I can properly see the NAS listed only if the PC is cable connected to the LAN while I can't see it if I use wifi!
What am I missing?
Thank you for help

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWhat OS are you running on the PC?
Also, can you access the NAS anyway (either through through the dashboard, or by entering \\NASname or \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in the explorer address bar (xxx's are the NAS IP address).
Can RAIDar see the Duo? - eregaliniAspirantHi Stephen, thanks for your suggestions. Here is the situation:
- I am running a PC with windows 7 pro 64bit
- RAIDar cannot find the NAS if the PC is connected only via wifi and the same happens if I try to connect with \\NASNAME or \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx;
- on the contrary, the dashboard works properly, letting me work on the configuring it without any problem.
How can I then access the data stored on the NAS when I am in wifi?
Thanks - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIs the WiFi connection type "public"? If so, try changing it to "home" or "work".
- eregaliniAspirantYou are right, it was Public and I changed it to Home network, but unfortunatly nothing changed.....
I still cannot see the NAS in the Network, neither if I look for \\NASNAME.
Thanks for any other suggestion. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWhat happens if you use \\ipaddress?
Also, is your WiFi base station the same as your router? Or are you using a separate device to provide WiFi? If you do have a separate device, you might be double-routing which would explain the behavior. - eregaliniAspirantYESSSSSSSSS! You are right, I have in fact two routers: my wifi network is created with a Netgear DGND3700, which is connected to another modem/router (without wifi) given by my internet service provider.
I now tried to connect the readyNAS to the DGND3700 and everything works fine, thanks a lot.
Do you know if there is a way to configure the DGND3700 so that it only works as wifi access point without conflicting with the other router? - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Most newer Netgear routers can be set up to be access points. With many models you can set this up on the "advanced" menus under Wireless Settings.eregalini wrote: YESSSSSSSSS! There is another approach, which is to move the ethernet cable between the DGND3700 and the "real" router from the WAN input to one of the LAN inputs. If you do this you might want to set up a static address for the DGND3700, otherwise you can't reach the router's web page (unless you switch the cable back).
Though double-routing works too, as long as you hook all your devices up to the DGND3700.
