NV+ Replacement Issues
Folks - First - Thank you Netgear for replacing my NV+ after the Powersupply failure last week. Netgear sent me a new chassis and I promptly loaded it with the drives from my old unit.
Strangely - I got a failure on drive 1, which then progressed to a "kernal panic" when trying to boot up. I removed drive 1 and the unit would boot up normally (although without redundancy).
I replaced the faulty drive with a new 2TB unit from WD. They NV+ sees the new drive - but does NOT bring it online. I get a message stating that parity has changed and a re-synch is needed. The problem I have is the Volume / Raid Re-sync button is greyed out and I am unable to start it.
The Drive 1 LED is flashing yellow and doesn't go on-line.
I let this run over night - hoping that the re-synch was running in the background - but that does not seem to be the case.
What can I do to force a re-synch or what do I need to do to bring this drive online?
I am on the latest firmware (not the beta). I have run quota and filesystem checks with no errors.
My current state is up and running - but without redundancy. I am running x-raid.
I have opened a support case on-line as well.
Thank you..

- PapaBear1ApprenticeIf you do not have a current and complete backup, before you do anything else, create one now, even if you have to copy/paste the files. Do this before you lose connection.
- amarzanoTutorSage advice for sure.. :-)
I do have all the data backed up - BUT would prefer:
- To NOT have to restore the data to the NAS
- To Understand why the hot swap feature is not working and how to correct it.
Any help?
Thank you.. - PapaBear1ApprenticeWhat model is the new WD 2TB drive?
Have you run DataLifeGuard on the drive?
Have you checked the size of the the drive in disk manager? (another member and I recently had troubles with some Seagate drives that were showing a volume size smaller than normal and had to use SeaTools for DOS to reset to max native size. Then they were accepted). - amarzanoTutorI am using the WD 2TB WD20EARS (which i believe was on the supported list).
I have used 2 different drives and both have the same result.
Per a response from Netgear support - I reloaded the O/S. This went well - but now I only see the outline of the Frontview screen and none of the tabs, etc. I used admin/netgear1 for the user password.
Any suggestions? - amarzanoTutorI was able to get into Frontview.
Drive 1 is still not online and the re-sync tab still greyed out.amarzano wrote: I am using the WD 2TB WD20EARS (which i believe was on the supported list).

I have not - but the drives are brand new And I have tried
3 of them...
The NAS recognizes the drive and show the correct info in
Frontview - just won't let me resync. - PapaBear1ApprenticeWhat version of RAIDiator are you running?
- amarzanoTutorOk - thank you to all that replied. I was able to resolve my issue by updating to the latest FW 4.1.7.
The issue is that the NAS did not and would not automatically update to that version of the FW. I had to manually download it and then update the unit. Not sure why that was - since it was set to automatically apply updates and has done so in the past.
I am now in the process of replacing each disk with a 2TB unit - and will get thru all of them in a day or so..
Thank you..
