Problem with RN102 after 6.2.1 update #24398652
Hello everyone. Today I made an update to version 6.2.1 OS6. I do not know what tempted me, it seemed to me that everything will play as with previous updates. After the update I uninstalled ajax 4. System announced that after uninstalling needs to do a reset. Up to this point everything was ok. However, after the reset RN102 does not want to get up. I can not log in to the administration panel, Readycloud shows that the device is offline and the LED "power" on the case all the time just blinking. FTP also can not get the resources. The only place through which I can get to the RN102 is windows explorer - at least for the moment.
I would add that I have only one disk and do not want to do a reset to factory settings because I do not want to backup almost 2TB of data ... I do not even no place anywhere.
Is it possible to do something about it?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserCopying through windows explorer is actually a lot faster than using the USB 3.0 ports on the RN102 (assuming a gigabit connection).

I can browse the NAS via Windows Explorer or connect to the NAS via RAIDar. Unfortunately I can not get into the admin panel. Readycloud shows all the directories in RN102 but I can not browse from this level.
I'm having the same sort of problem with my RN104. I uninstalled an app and now I can't get to the web page. I tried to do an OS Reinstall throught he boot menu (twice) and it did not work either. I'm not sure how to get to UI to do anything. I can, as you were, able to get to the various shares where my data was, but no control of the RN104 at all (that I know of.) I can see info using RAIDar, but not everything is listed.
EDIT: Optimus Prime was able to move one of my responses to a new thread titled "UI offline after attempt uninstall app on 6.2.1". Maybe something there will help also.
EDIT: mdgm has been helping me offline and helped solve my problem. See thread titled "Problem Uninstalling Apps after 6.2.1 Upgrade on RN312" Thanks again everyone! - piechuAspirantGuys, how can I backup my data?
Is there any free software to manage and copy data from a partition ext packages for Windows7?StephenB wrote: Copying through windows explorer is actually a lot faster than using the USB 3.0 ports on the RN102 (assuming a gigabit connection).
I do not have a gigabit switch, only fast ethernet. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredHi piechu,
Did you see the response from NETGEAR support to your case?
You should backup your data regularly regardless. Multiple disk failures, fire, flood, theft etc. can happen.
Important data should be stored on multiple devices.
What do you want software that reads EXT for? Have you already formatted your USB disks with EXT3/4 and don't want to reformat them? The internal disks in the NAS use BTRFS for the data volume.
If your PC has a gigabit ethernet port you could use a direct-connection to the NAS to backup the data faster. - piechuAspirantYes, I've got gigabit in my PC. I'll try direct-connect.
Is there some easy instruction how to do this?
Yes, I saw the answer from support. But before I agree to access the NAS, I would like to backup what I can. During the intervention, according to the warning, I can lose all my data. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDid you see the response to your support case?
- piechuAspirantI've edited the previous post before I saw your reply.

EDIT:
I have a problem. I changed the IP of my PC to 192,168,168,100. I plugged the US, it is detected by RAIDar but with a different IP than it should. 192,168,168,168. Instead, it detected the number 169,254,150,114. I tried to connect the NAS several times but always the IP number starts with 169.254.xxx.xxx. I can not access the data.
When i change my PC IP to 169.254.150.xxx RAIDar can't see the NAS anymore. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Fast ethernet is a wash, so there is little speed advantage to switching. USB 3.0 backup speed to NTFS was measured at ~12 MB/s by smallnetbuilder.com. Fast ethernet can run nearly that fast.piechu wrote: Guys, how can I backup my data?

The net here is that you are losing more time here than you will gain by trying to speed things up. You've already lost 2 days.
I think you should hook things back up the way they were before, and just make the backup the way you did before. - vandermerweMasterDid you reboot the nas after changing around the ethernet connections? That IP address usually appears if you have done something like unplug a cable.
I think to access the nas on that other IP you would have to set that IP address on your PC ( the one you tried that starts with 169) and also change the subnet to 255.255.0.0
The subnet is probably 255.255.255.0 at the moment. - piechuAspirantDo You know how to turn off the Tech Support mode?
I was asked to run in this mode, but due to the holiday season Netgear technicians will not attend to my device over the next few days (I will turn this mode after the holidays). I would like to disable this mode but I don't know how. Pressing the power button has no effect. I have to pull the plug?
