ReadNAS dual connections- USB and Ethernet simultaneously

This question is pre purchase type of question.

I am considering the ReadyNas RND212D22-100NES, but would like to know if i can access it via the USB ports as well as the netowrk.

I will use the USB port in local backup operations and the network interface for cloud syncronizations.

Thank you,

Brad

    No.

They can be used to monitor a connected UPS, and you can back up the NAS to a USB-connected drive using the web-ui backup facility.  But connecting a PC over USB won't work.

    Hello smarteam,

ReadyNAS units are network attached devices which means connecting to it and accessing it will rely on its network interface card. The USB ports are for connecting external disks to it which will be a separate volume from the ReadyNAS volume. Most of the time, USB ports are used to backup the volume of the ReadyNAS to the USB disk plugged in to it.

Ok.  The intention was to have the production backup software, backkup teh NAS as a local device as well, but it sounds like i'll have to map a drive to it and accomplish it that way.

Can the USB connection be used for access to files at all on the NAS?

      Thank you,

      Brad
