Ready DLNA stopped working for music streaming
I am SO confused.
Ready DLNA worked just fine for the last 3 or 4 years on my ReadyNas Duo. It stopped working last night on my Oppo BD 95 Universal Disc Player.
So here is what I think I know:
Ready DLNA on my iPad and iPhone work perfectly, but they connect differently.
On the Oppo, wireless connects and I can use You Tube or Pandora, but when I go to network shares, the Read Nas no longer shows up with my shares. Searching my network from Oppo software finds nothing. I have tried everything and all suggestions from Oppo. I do not think its Oppo issue.
If I go to the NAS from a browser IP address, log in as ADMIN, I can see my shares, but when I try to access them, it asks for a login and password to the share and I can get them with this additional login and password (different than admin). I see all of the drive through my Ethernet connection just fine, of course.
I have stopped and restarted Ready DLNA. I have rebooted the ReadyNas. I am out of ideas. I cannot get the Oppo to find my shares any longer.
Can anyone help me trouble shoot this? I used this features several times a week.
Thanks!
~Bob

You don't need to reconfigure anything to try this. Your internet connection will be double-routed, but if you are not forwarding ports there will be no problem. If you are forwarding ports, its a bit more work, but not much.rebop wrote: Well, the DSL modem has the router built in so not sure how to configure all then. I could try this I also could connect the WNR 2000 to the modem's router rather than the witch. And I'd prefer to return the WNR 3700 since it does not see to work and then get the WNR2000 working.
Thanks.
~Bob - rebopTutorOK, i tired the simplest part of this which was to unplug the WNR2000 form the switch and plug into a port on the DSL modem / router. No change. Would have been nice.
So you want me to go modem output>WNR2000 LAN in> LAN out >switch??? I am having a difficult time understanding what that would work differently than what I just did. Am I missing configuration changes required in ether case?
~Bob - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou need the NAS and the Oppo to be connected to the same router. Since the Oppo is wifi, the NAS needs to be connected differently.
modem->wnr2000->switch does that, and doesn't need any configuration changes.
modem -> wnr2000

switch
does not do it. - rebopTutorI have to think this through, Stephen. Nas has fixed IP, is a shared drive. Several other computers on this network as well as iPhone and iPad. If this works, seems like a ton of things to remember and reconfigure.
And wouldn't this indicate that when I was testing the WNR3700 as an access point it should have worked? If so, it did not.
Can I just assign a fixed IP to the WNR2000 so all is on the same network without moving it or making other changes?
If not, then I will have to try this as time allows.
Thanks again. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou can't just assign a fixed IP to the WNR2000. The problem is that it is routing. The right network design either has it routing nothing, or has it routing everything.
Is the NAS the only device with a fixed address?
You could leave your original config, reassign the NAS to be automatic, and then move it to the WNR2000 and retest Oppa. - rebopTutorIts fixed. You will not believe how simple the solution was. I still do not.
The Ethernet cable from the switch to Netgear was to WAN. I moved it to LAN. All works.
i then assigned a fixed IP to it and disabled DHCP on the Netgear router. Everything works as it used to.
Thanks SO MUCH for all the help. Between you and reading it all dawned on me.
Best,

Yes, that turns the WNR2000 into an AP. If the router had an AP mode in the config, then you'd be able to use the WAN port.rebop wrote: i then assigned a fixed IP to it and disabled DHCP on the Netgear router. Everything works as it used to.
Glad everything is up and running again.
