Ready DLNA stopped working for music streaming
I am SO confused.
Ready DLNA worked just fine for the last 3 or 4 years on my ReadyNas Duo. It stopped working last night on my Oppo BD 95 Universal Disc Player.
So here is what I think I know:
Ready DLNA on my iPad and iPhone work perfectly, but they connect differently.
On the Oppo, wireless connects and I can use You Tube or Pandora, but when I go to network shares, the Read Nas no longer shows up with my shares. Searching my network from Oppo software finds nothing. I have tried everything and all suggestions from Oppo. I do not think its Oppo issue.
If I go to the NAS from a browser IP address, log in as ADMIN, I can see my shares, but when I try to access them, it asks for a login and password to the share and I can get them with this additional login and password (different than admin). I see all of the drive through my Ethernet connection just fine, of course.
I have stopped and restarted Ready DLNA. I have rebooted the ReadyNas. I am out of ideas. I cannot get the Oppo to find my shares any longer.
Can anyone help me trouble shoot this? I used this features several times a week.
Thanks!
~Bob

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDoes R use its own AP? IF so, what model is it, and what 802.11 protocol and frequency band are you using?
- rebopTutorThe problem is indeed, R.
Now, all devices see this and can us it for Wireless. But NONE can see the DLNA server on it any longer. So this is the issue. Now, how to fix?
What do you mean by AP Stephen?
Its a Netgear WNR2000V3. Manual is here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WNR2000V3/WNR2000v3_SM_19AUG2010.pdf and here: http://s3.amazonaws.com/szmanuals/0914fa6351600a48ddd0b50f1aaa6886
Thanks.

Is WNR2000 acting as your router? What device is provding network I? - rebopTutorD-Link DSL modem connects to Internet and connects to a switch. Switch connects to Netgear router. Always worked flawlessly. Still does for connectivity. Just not DLNA.
~Bob - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI'm asking these followups because I am thinking I need a clearer picture of how your network is set up.
So you have DSL modem -> ethernet switch->WNR2000. I'm guessing that the NAS is also connected to the switch?
Is the WNR2000 connected to the switch via its WAN port or one of the LAN ports? Is any other device connected to the WNDR2000 LAN port? Is the DSL modem providing wireless network I? - rebopTutorYes, Stephen, NAS also on the switch. The DSL modem also has a wifi router, different name and IP addresses. THIS one works with DLNA clients, but not to the Oppo which is too far away from it to connect. The WNR2000 worked flawlessly for years and no changes made I can find. The only changes were me, after it stopped working, changing versions of DLNA on the Nas. But then, it works through the D-Link router, just not the Netgear.
Last might I bought a brand new Netgear WNR3700 N600 router. It does not see the DLNA either. I had hoped throwing money at this might fix the problem. Alas, no.
The WNR2000 is connected through WAN port. Nothing connected to LAN ports. The DLS router is on 192. groups. The WNR on 10.0 groups. This is as it has always been. The new WNR3700 even announced it would do this to eliminate conflicts.
I hope something about helps. I am so frustrated and do not know where else to get help.
Thanks.
~Bob - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserOk. So you are double routing. Independent of what worked before, you shouldn't be doing that. You should be setting the WNR3700 up in "AP" mode. The user manual tells you how to do that.
In AP mode you will be using 192 addresses throughout your network. DLNA is not designed to pass through NAT routers, and DLNA discovery generally won't work if the NAS is on the WAN side of that router, and the clients are on the WLAN/LAN side. - rebopTutorI tried the WNR3700 in AP and that made no difference. Still had connectivity, but no DLNA. Either at 2.4 or 5 mHz, btw as I tried both.
The WNR2000 has no AP mode I can find. And unless you have an idea I can try, I intend to return the WNR3700 today while I can.

Not sure what this means. But once again, it all worked perfectly for so long as is with no changes that I made.
Thanks again for your interest and efforts.
~Bob - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI believe you that it worked before, but the correct way to do this is to set up the router in AP mode. The truth is it is unclear how it worked at all before.
The other alternative is to connect as follows:
DSL modem -> WNR2000->switch.
Then everything is on a 10.x.x.x address, and you aren't attempting to route DLNA broadcast packets. - rebopTutorWell, the DSL modem has the router built in so not sure how to configure all then. I could try this I also could connect the WNR 2000 to the modem's router rather than the witch. And I'd prefer to return the WNR 3700 since it does not see to work and then get the WNR2000 working.
Thanks.
