ReadyNAS Duo does not ALWAYS wake up
If I open a file, or click on the Duo in Windows Explorer, then it will wake up.
However, when my computer's backup programme (Handy Backup) and podcast receiver (Juice) try to run, they report failure & they don't wake up the Duo.
If the Duo is already awake, they will run without a problem.
This is a recent problem, they used to wake it up with no bother at all.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a fix please.
Thanks, Roger

Do you mean the Duo v1 or v2?RogerJay wrote: If I open a file, or click on the Duo in Windows Explorer, then it will wake up.

Generally the problem is because some devices (and programmes I guess) time out before the disks come back to life. On the v1 the only "solution" I am aware of is to configure the system so the disks don't spin down. I don't think this is an option with the v2 though. Of course you can also try again (with Juice at least), since the first "failed" attempt will still spin up the disks, so the second attempt will succeed. - RogerJayAspirantDon't know how to find out which version I have, it was bought in Feb. 2010, but presumably it is v1 since there is a spin-down option under "System"
Details below:-
The idea of trying a second time unfortunately does not work since the first, failed, attempt does not spin the discs up at all. Only by opening another type of file, e.g. Excel, or direct calling of files in Windows Explorer will wake it up.
It's not a major problem, only a bit more manual control, but it used to work & it would be nice to return to that state.

P.S. FWIW Thunderbird has the same problem, although it reports it as "...another copy of Tbird is already running..."
