ReadyNAS NV+ Won't power on after powering down
Model - ReadyNAS NV+ RND4210 (Note -original label on chassis says RND4000 V3 over which a sticker has been placed saying RND4210) Not sure of firmware version. Unit was shut down and disconnected while setting up a new PC in the home office. Unit refused to power back on. Did not notice any obvious burning or electrical smell at the time, but having read a number of articles on the support groups, this appears to be a NV+ power supply problem. Called Tech Support and was told by the automated system to check the website for support details. Because of the label discrepancy, I'm unsure what unit to search under. Hopefully tech support will see this and pick up on it. Thanks

I've just encountered the same problem.
I have 3 NV+ units. My building is undergoing some electrical system maintenance and is shutting down power at night. In order to avoid potential problems, I shut down all 3 appliances even though they are attached to UPS. The units shut down without issue.
However, 2 of the 3 will not power on any more.
Is this really a power supply issue? It seems strange that 2 units would experience this at the same time and this would happen from simply powering off.

Try removing the disks (labeling by slot). The units normally will power up in that state (and RAIDar will report "no disks").
If they don't power on, the most likely cause is the PSU. Though a failed system board could also present the same symptoms.

Thank you StephenB. I'll give that a try. Luckily, the arrays contain mostly redundant data and I have one NV+ left that is still working for the time being and I can use it to retrieve the data.
If the devices do power on without disks, can I simply start re-inserting the disks?
- MahieuAspirantI replaced the power supply of my nv+ v2 a few years ago. It's easy ;)

First of all, you have an NV+ v1 (sparc-based ReadyNAS). The RND4000 is the chassis/diskless part number.
The RND4210 is an RND4000 that shipped with factory-installed disks. The "x2xx" means it shipped with 2 disks, the "xx1x" means those disks were 1 TB each.
If the serial number of your NAS is between 000DA2010FFE and 000DA2016000, then there was a service action, and you are entitled to a replacement PSU even if the NAS is out of warranty. Otherwise, the normal warranty (usually 5 years on your NAS) would apply.
There are some replacement supplies out there, but they are generally expensive. You can also get a less expensive generic supply, but you do need to modify the pinout before you install it.
