ReadyNAS NV won't power on

I have a ReadyNAS NV that I bought back in April 2006 that will no longer power on.

1) I'm suspecting that the power supply has gone bad. Is there a way to check if this is the case? If I need a new power supply where would I get a new one?

2) If I decide to get a new unit, can I get migrate the disc without loosing the data?

Thanks in advance.

  • The serial number of my ReadyNAS is outside of the service notice range for the fan (00DA2010000 ~ 000DA2010189).

I haven't enabled the schedule Power-Off/Power-On option on my NV, but I'll give it a try. If this doesn't work, I look at getting a replacement PSU.

I'm assuming that this is the correct replacement.

    Thanks.
  • I tried disconnecting the backup battery, but still no-go on powering up. I took the power supply out and noticed a discoloration around the vent holes. There wasn't any strong smell of something burning.

Since I have the box opened up, should I replace the button backup battery?

I'll be ordering a new power supply and let you know how it goes.

    Thanks.
  • Installed new PSU and ReadyNAS NV is now working! Thanks for your help.
