ReadyNAS Ultra 2 Plus - Which fan is built in?
Hello!
I'm looking for a silent replacement fan, which fan is built in?
Thanks!

- victorhortaliveAspirantI'm pretty sure it is a 92mm unit.
If you want a quieter version look for a 92mm Noctua. Have a trawl through the forums for quiet fan replacement.
Most people had a go at replacing the NV+ fan with mixed results - I burned out the mobo with mine, so I reverted to the original fan on my other units.
The Ultra 2+ is one of the quietest of the ReadyNAS units anyway. I have had an NV, NV+, Duo, Ultra 2, Pro Pioneer and Ultra 6+ .
My problem with the Ultra 2 was the prop-jet noise on start-up. Although it is only a few seconds, it's still loud enough to act as an alarm clock.
You will probably get more noise from the 2 drives than from the fan in normal use. - mangroveApprentice

Old thread but the info might be good for someone...
The built-in fan in the Ultra 2 NON-plus is a 92mm Delta AFB0912HH, 12 V / 0.40 A. I would venture a guess that the exact same unit is used in the "plus" version.
Personally I have replaced it with a Noctua NF-B9, which after calibration runs very quiet. In fact, a problem with this is that the system doesn't seem to look at temperature when calibrating, only at maximum fan rotation speed, creating a ramping curve from that. So while the system temperature isn't much affected, the much reduced airflow coming from using a slower speed has seen the CPU temperature rise considerably. Idle temp (sleep mode) is around 70-75 degrees C, when working the temperature is slightly lower.
I am using the Noctua without its speed-reducing resistor cables.
Input on how to manually adjust the calibration would be nice! :) - Chams_DeanAspirantYou used a 4 pin connector ?
If you use the 3 pin, the noctua will run at full speed ( if you didn't add resistor cables) and should not need calibration ? - mangroveApprentice

Nope, a three pin, the original is also a three-pin "normal" fan.
