ReadyNAS users and https interface

The NAS is ReadyNas 212 with firmware 6.10.10.

Can ordinary users with no particular privilege - the users created to access the shares via SMB - access the https interface and change their password on their own?

So far I could access the interface with the /admin URL and with the admin user and with another user belonging to the admin group. I could not access the interface with a user not belonging to the "admin" group. Curiously enough if the user belonging to the admin group changes his password, then his credentials don't work right away: a message is showed telling the account has been locked, due to too many failed attempts and suggesting to re-login after 5 minutes.

How the whole thing is supposed to work?

Thanks in advance!

Andrea

Only an admin can change the password on the local NAS accounts.

Is the PC set up to remember the password?  It might be re-applying it.

Keep in mind that the user credential for the NAS does not have to be the same credential used to log into the PC. Since the NAS credential is only used on the local network, it might not need to be changed very often.

It's not well documented, but yes you can.  Go to https://<NAS IP>/my_password/.

Good to know, I somehow missed that.

Upon accessing /admin a sort of popup appears with something filled in, but I enter the user name and the new password manually. Anyway I modified my text to tell the new credentials don't work right away, but they do work later on - at least this is what I remember.

      Thanks!
