Readys NAS nv+ destroys my hard drives
i have 2x1.5tb and 2x2tb hard dirves which i set the nas to erase so i let it do the job and when i can back to it
it sayed it had been done but for some reason only 1 of my hard drives is usable and i cant read nor format the other 3
nas says there bad but i hung then in a Linux system which says there are healthy.

- NhellieVirtuosoDid you get any notifications regarding HDD failures? Try checking them using disk diagnostic tools like Seatools or WD Lifeguard.
- wheelhouse20Aspiranti didn't get any notifications regarding HDD failures also none of the disk diagnostic tools picked up my hard drives
2x1.5tb HD154UI
2x2tb WD20EZRX - vandermerweMasterWas there any interruption to the erase?
There are some circumstances under which the nas will lock the drives.
Can you read the drives on your linux system? - wheelhouse20Aspirantim not sure if there was any interruption to the erase as wasn't watching it.
no i cant read in linux system as it wont assign a location
and cant do factory reset as boot menu wont go past normal - vandermerweMasterHave you tried to access the boot menu with a different drive in the nas?
How are you accessing the boot menu?
Do you definitely have a v2?

Here is a thread on locked drives, your nas symptoms are not textbook locked drive symptoms, but close:
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=78506&p=442967&hilit=Locked+drives#p442967 - wheelhouse20Aspiranti definitely have the nv+ v2 i am a ReadyNAS Newbie not sure where to start with locked drives.
- vandermerweMasterOk, do you have ssh enabled?
What about the boot menu. That is unusual that you cannot scroll through the menu options. Do you definitely get into the boot menu and are you pushing the correct buttons. You need to release the reset button after the boot menu message appears then use the backup button to scroll through the options.
Normally with locked drives the nas will factory default on each boot, is that happening?
If it is then you won't be able to use ssh to fix this unless it is already enabled ( if it is locked drives) , you would need someone to remotely access the nas and unlock the drives. That may be possible. - wheelhouse20Aspiranti dont think i have ssh enabled.
i am to toggle through the boot menu now. i was holding the reset while pressing the backup button wondering why nothings happening lol
will a factory default fix the drives ? - vandermerweMasterIt is not clear whether your problem is locked drives.
As you have no data on the drives that you need to retrieve, there is no harm in trying a factory default. If the problem is locked drives it will not fix it though although the unit should factory default. If the problem is bad drives then this may become more obvious. - wheelhouse20Aspirantthe readynas stalled on factory default
