This error has got nothing to do with the internal flash so USB Boot Recovery won't help.
Can you try booting into volume read-only mode?
Tried booting into Volume Read Only mode from the boot menu and the boot process stops at the same point as a normal load, at right around 25 to 27%, and then displays the same btrfs_biomerge_bio_hook+a4 message.
