RND2000-100NAS will not boot

We had a major storm last night that took power out for a while. The device was plugged into a UPS. This morning however, I noticed it could not be sen on the network. After a few attempts at restarting the Duo, even using the reset button a few times, it still can not be seen. THe front LEDs consists of one Blue power button LED, 1 Green ACT light and 2 green Drive lights. THey are flashing a pattern and have not been able to find out what that pattern means. All 5 lights (the blue Power and the other 3 green LEDs) all flash 3 times very quickly, than the green Drive 1 LED flashes twice slowly, about once ever 2 seconds. I checked online and found some light patterns for other Netgear models but never found one for this particular model. The other ones say it could be the unit does not recognize the drives and I even found one that said it could be the RAM. Anyone have any ideas? I am pretty sure the drives are OK.

  • Try powering it down all the way pulling the power and hold in for 30 seconds. after that plug the power back in and try booting it back up. If it still doesn't work, try using the boot menu and put it into mem test. let it run for a few hours. if it stops, that means it failed.
  • Thanks for the suggestions, but none of it helped. The blinking light patteren remains regardless of what I do. I tried holding the power button for 25 seconds to initiate the Mem Test, but the 3 fast blinking lights than 2 slow blinking light pattern never faultered. I tried the factory reset by holding in the reset button for 30 seconds and nothing. Unfortunately, this unit is just past the 1 year mark for a warranty. I do not know how Manufacturers know, but they sure do seem to set their warranties up so the devices do not fail until after the warranty runs out. Maybe we can claim this on our insurance as storm damage. [shrug]
  • If you only purchased it a year ago it should still be under warranty. Don't try the factory reset unless you are willing to purge your data. At this point I would suggest opening a ticket at http://www.readynas.com/support and editing the subject with your case number.
  • Sweet, I did not realize the Duo had a 3 year warranty. Perhaps that is why I purchased it in the first place. I will open a ticket. Thank you 1985.
