Likley not, unless it's a seagate enclosure.

fh : )_~ - MardeAspiranteh guys,
Please note that I posted a link to DL the newest firmware to fix the “sticky video” problem. That post was here at this thread earlier today-yesterday, and included links to SD1A and CC1H.
I have completed firmware upgrades on four HDD’s. (1.5TB Seagate)
Two HDD’s were SD17 and have been flashed to -> SD1A
Two HDD’s were CC1G and have been flashed to -> CC1H
I used CloneDVD2 to burn the ISO file Flash Utility (for SD1A) to a DVD+R,… this DVD is now my Boot-Disk to flash the HDD’s. I did the same thing again for a CC1H Boot-Disk.
Flash process was not a problem and went normal, as I expected,… as I hoped for.
None of the newly flashed HDD’s are being tested or used yet, except for one, which has replaced one of four 750GB drives inside my NV+. The NV+ is initializing the first of 4 new 1.5TB HDD right now.
Later today, I might post some Screen Shots of the process (cell phone camera pics of my PC monitor), but I am toast and out of time right now.
Cheers! - Just spoke to a Seagate representative and my SD17 is also being updated to SD1A. Since the drive is currently in use I do expect some results later today and then may probably be able to tell you if that helped or not. By the way, there are only these 2 firmware versions available, so the links Marde provided (thanks for that) should do it for everybody.
Going to back up the whole thing now... :? - MardeAspirantSharing information about disk expansion on a NV+.
Current NV+ is X-RAID using four 750GB disks.
Started upgrading system to four 1.5TB disks.
First disk replaced yesterday. It took 8+ hours to finish the first disk, 4 hours of Init and 4 hours of RAID Sync.
Frontview -> Volumes -> Raid Settings, shows the first 1.5TB disk as [1397 GB]. - MardeAspirantSharing information about flashing firmware on Seagate 1.5TB drives.
Here are a few things from the Flash Utility experience. I saw an instruction (inside the README.TXT page somewhere) that said I would need to “run FLASH.BAT at the DOS prompt” but that is bogus. That is probably only for those using a FLOPPY boot disk.
When you get to the first page that has “ README.TXT – 11-Mar-2008 “ make sure you do what it says -> hit Esc or F10, in order to get to the Main Flash Page. If you do not hit Esc or F10, and instead hit a different key-stroke, the flash utility program will HANG. Take it from me, it will hang. I hit a option / keystroke "S" at the README page, thinking I was at the Main Flash Page, and, well, that's how I know.
Once your at the Main Flash Page, I did option “S” for a scan, then option “A” to flash the disk. Once complete, the prompt is;
“Cycle power to continue…”
“Press any key to continue…”
I was a tiny bit confused here. I cycled power on the newly flashed disc (the HDD was in an eSATA – SATA Disc Holder making a power cycle easy for me) but I was not supposed to do that. Fortunately no harm, no foul.
The funny thing about this prompt;
“Cycle power to continue…”
“Press any key to continue…”
The funny thing about this prompt is that your PC will shut-off immediately after hitting any key. Boom!
It would have been lots better for me if the prompt said;
“Power must now be removed from HDD…”
“Press any key to continue with shutdown…”
After the power down, I do not think the drive needs to be re-booted in the PC configured as “booting from CD boot-disk’. The upgrade flash is done. However, I did re-boot, with the boot-disk CD, then went to the Main Flash Page, and did a Option “S” (scan) to see the system report the HDD fw version.
Cheers!
Chirpa,
A few posts back -either you or some mod changed my post pictures (img's) from wikisend to stashbox, which allows the picture to display in the thread. Thank you for doing that. I might go have a look at stashbox services later. - cohobinAspirantJust my status:
Upgrading 4x 750GB seagates to 1.5TB seagates.
All were CC1G firmware upgraded to CC1H firmware. Successfully replaced two drives with no problem yet. Everything seems fine.
You should checkout newegg.com, I bought these drives for $129. - ijhammoAspirantbut has anyone actually reported the sticky video issue on the CC1G drives?
I am 3/4 of the way through swapping my 500Gb drives for 1.5Tb drives (CC1G firmware) and my initial tests have not highlighted any problems when streaming video. Can anyone confirm that the issue exists on CC1G firmware? - chirpaLuminary
I wasn't able to fully test mine, one of three disks I got was DOA, have to RMA it (and get a refurb replacement it seems).ijhammo wrote: Can anyone confirm that the issue exists on CC1G firmware?
Yes, I did modify the post. Try and save your images as JPG, not BMP. Then upload it on StashBox and it gives you a Forum Image code link you can paste here.Marde wrote: Chirpa, A few posts back -either you or some mod changed my post pictures (img's) from wikisend to stashbox, which allows the picture to display in the thread. And that is just freaking WRONG! Arrgg.

After more testing, it's not completely DOA, was another issue causing problems. Gonna try swapping to the new drives this weekend and see how it goes.Festus Hagen wrote: And that is just freaking WRONG! Arrgg.
