Slow Speeds DUO RND2000 v1
Hi All,
I've got a ReadyNAS Duo (RND2000 v1) and am having major issues with the transfer speed and performance.
I have a Neatgear WNDR 4500 which connects my PC and ReadyNas together. I appear to access the ReadyNAS folders ok however when I try to copy any file from the NAS to me PC I'm lucky to get over 5MB/s. Worse yet is when I try to upload a file to the NAS from my PC, in this case I'm lucky to even get 100KB/s which makes uploading files almost useless.
I'm using that network cables that came with the router so I assume these would ok.
I don't have jumbo frames enabled as the router does not support it. My MTU is set to 1500 if that makes any difference. I've tried the performance guides but none of this has helped with the speeds. The upload speed is what really bothers me because I can't really get any up onto the NAS.
What type of speads should I be expecting from this device?
Thanks,
Luke

What version of RAIDiator?
Download your logs (Status > Logs > Download all logs) and extract the contents of the zip file. What does your partition.log look like? - DeadByDawnAspirantI've currently got 1 wd 2tb cavier green drive in it. I'm not sure of the exact model but Ill look at it tonight after work and post the logs up.
Thanks for the quick response! - DeadByDawnAspirantOk.

However your disks are not on the Hard Disk HCL. The WD20EARS-00S8B1 is the version specified in the notes.
Are you connected via ethernet or wireless? - DeadByDawnAspirantethernet
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou should be getting say 15-30 MB/s over gigabit ethernet.
What's the error count like under Network > Interfaces in Frontview?
Does a direct-connection (http://www.sphardy.com/web/directconnect) make a difference? - DeadByDawnAspirantNetwork Errors [Ethernet 1]
Auto-negotiation 1
Bad packets 34
Disconnect 0
False carrier 0
Idle errors 255
Link failures 0
Receive errors 10167
Symbol errors 0
VLAN tags 0
TCP Retransmits 402538
Unrecovered TCP Retransmits 155188
Those numbers look high ? I'll try the direct connect, Give me a few minutes. Thanks for the help btw :) - DeadByDawnAspirantok so ive connected it directly anf the transfer speeds seemed ok. up and down ranged from 20MB/s to 10MB/s. Connected it back to the router and now the transfer from NAS to PC is up to just under 20MB/s but the upload to the nas is back to 50kb/s?
Just tested my laptop that's connected to the router with a wireless usb dongle (neatgear WNDA3100 v2) and that appears to be ok. Both uploading and downloading to the NAS was around 2-3 MB/s. Not great speeds but atleast it's consistant. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Yes these numbers are high; it looks like your issue network-related. If you can use different cables (both PC to router/switch and NAS to router/switch) I would try that first. Are you using cat5e or better?DeadByDawn wrote: Network Errors [Ethernet 1]

The speed appears when directly connected to pc. Only when I plug it into the router, however ever other device on the network reads and writes fine. Only my desktop pc writes slow. It appears to read fine.
I'll try different cables for the pc but perhaps It's the NIC?
