Time machine wont recognize my drive since Yosemite Upgrade

Well it was happily working for a while... But now time machine won't see my NAS in the select backup list.

System:
Yosemite 10.10.2 on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
ReadyNAS NVX Pioneer Edition
RAIDiator 4.2.27

Some additional information:

In the finder, when I connect to "afp://192.168.1.150/ReadyNAS" it says not found.
However I can connect to one of my shares "afp://192.168.1.150/media".
FWIW - I also noticed that RAIDar (4.1.4) doesn't see my NAS anymore.
I turned off time machine in the config, changed the password and turned it back on. That didn't work.

It should be working fine with that firmware. Can you send me your logs (see the link in my sig)

What's the capacity of your volume and the volume usage like?
  • I was having a somewhat similar problem.

On my RN3130 running 6.2.2, I was unable to see the Private Time Machine backup disks on my Macs until I enabled the Share Time Machine. After I did that the Private Time Machine disks magically appeared on my Macs.

I had the same problem and this solution fixed it. Thanks (but I don't understand why it worked!)

Another observation since Yosemite which is possibly related is that the name of the NAS changed from HomeNAS to homenas despite staying as HomeNAS in ReadyCLOUD. I would have thought that Time Machine wasn't case sensitive even though the ReadyNAS is Linux-based.

    Thanks again, Henry.
  • Unfortunately the above solution wasn't a permanent fix. HomeNAS no longer appears in finder and Time Machine can't find the disk. Finder sees HomeNAS (SMB) and the shares. I can usually correct the problem by going in through Raidar, Selecting a Time Machine user, clicking on Settings then Apply (without changing anything). A solution would be much appreciated.

    ReadyNAS 102 with 6.2.4; Yosemite 10.10.2

Is your Mac connected to your network via ethernet or Wi-Fi?

Normally via WiFi (Netgear R7000) but same behaviour when via ethernet.
  • Getting "HomeNAS" to come up in Finder by opening a Time Machine user in the Backup section of the ReadyNas Admin page also behaves the same for both WiFi and ethernet.
