Ultra 2 Plus 4.2.19 does not fix USB3 problems
I have 3 - 1TB Seagate 2.5" Freeagent Goflex drives (USB3). If I connect any of them to the Ultra 2 Plus front USB port and reboot the NAS, the NAS will not restart. It powers up and blinks the activity light once, but then stops. The two disk LED's on the NAS never turn on.
I had the same reboot issue with 4.2.17.
If I move the Goflex to one of the rear USB2 ports the NAS will start OK.
If I wait until after the NAS boots then connect the Goflex to the front USB3 port, it works OK.
Any ideas other than to use a different USB3 disk? I have disabled spindown using the Seagate utility. The reason why I like this model is because I have access to the SATA connectors if I ever need to do recovery, run Spinrite, etc... These drives should work. They work great on my desktop and laptop which both have the NEC USB3 controller.

- yoh-dahGuideDo you see this problem with another disk (i.e. USB 2)?
- claykinAspirantNo. USB2 disk works OK in front port. I think USB3 controller in U2+ is having trouble detecting USB3 bridge chip in Seagate Goflex. Can you guys acquire one and check it out?
From what I gather from online reviews of the Goflex USB3 drives, Seagate is using the JMicron JMS539 bridge. This seems to be a popular bridge used in many USB3 devices.
http://www.jmicron.com/Product_JMS539.htm - ahpsi1TutorFWIW the Seagate "FreeAgent GoFlex - hard drive - 1 TB - SuperSpeed USB 3.0" (mfr part # STAA1000101) does not exhibit this issue when plugged into the front USB port of a ReadyNAS Pro 2 under 4.2.17, 4.2.18 and 4.2.19.

Your unit identifies itself as a "Goflex desk". In my USB_devices.log mine is identified as "Freeagent Goflex". Also if I'm reading the log file correctly, yours is drawing 0mA from the USB port. My bus powered units draw 100mA. Are you sure you have the 2.5" 1TB portable Goflex? To me it looks more like you have a self powered 3.5" unit. - ahpsi1TutorYou are correct and I apologize for muddying this up - I went off my quoted part number (from my internal order) but the actual part we ordered was the STAC1000100 (3.5"). Not sure why I didn't go with the STAA1000101?
