RAID 5 with 3 2TB Seagate disk.When i copy a 6GB mkv file it copies at 15MB/second over a 1GB link!If i enable Jumbo frames this jumps to 80MB/seconds - but my internet stops working from the PC - as the BT infinity hub does not support Jumbo frames..Any thoughts?

Get a small gigabit switch, they're cheap. Put your readynas and pc on that switch and then plug the new switch into your internet providers hub/switch/whatever. That might solve it. If not, well you've got a spare switch now.

I have a netgear 1GB switch already...the nas \ pc \ BT router are connected to this..Jumbo frames enables fast copy by internet stops working..

internet stops working on the PC..but logmein still works as i am able to remotly log in to the pc from work.Have not checked the network stats on the nas - its a 1GB netgear switch (the blue business ones)no erros present when i check the nas - do i need a plugin to check further in depth?

There is a brief description here: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how ... _pc_or_mac The main thing is that you need to temporarily change the IP address and subnet mask of the PC - for instance, 192.168.168.170 for the IP, and 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask. Then put it back (probably to dhcp) when you are done.

I wonder if hes using an ISP with PPPoE or something. That might explain it.

Maybe he should focus on getting his NAS working first, then circle back to the jumbo frame mystery.

I have trouble accepting the idea that logmein can modify the mtu. MTU is down at layer 3/4 and logmein is up at layer 6/7 of the osi model. Apps don't jump layers. But I'll butt out, I'm new here :)

It is not modifying the MTU, I didn't mean to suggest that. Like all applications it does have control over the message sizes it chooses to send. Logmein also uses UDP, so TCP negotiation is not a factor.

What is odd about the problem is that normal web surfing seems to be totally failing, not that logmein continues to work.
