Ultra 4 no longer archiving Tivo files
As of 2/16, my Ultra 4 has been unable to successfully transfer any Tivo files. Nor can I via Web or Tivo Desktop. According to the Tivo Community Forums, this appears to be a widespread problem, evidently a bug in the Tivo firmware. (I'm running Tivo HDs; not sure what other units are affected.) A patch to the Curl configuration file will fix the problem if you're running Tivo Desktop under Windows. The freeware program kmttg has been updated with a workaround. But to date, I know of no way of fixing or patching my ReadyNAS to ignore the problem (something about not accepting cookies, I guess, which leads to a "session ID missing" message).
Has anyone else noticed the problem and (more importantly) discovered a work-around? Any chance for a ReadyNAS firmware update to address it?

- denarius1AspirantThat is great news! But am I correct that it is not compatible with my NV+ v2? If that is the case, will there be a fix coming for th NV+ v2?
I would know how to update my Ultra through FrontView, but I have moved TiVo archiving over to my NV+ v2, and looking at the web interface for that I can't see where I could install a similar NV+ v2 compatible patch. Can somebody clue me in? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThat add-on is only compatible with x86 devices (those that run RAIDiator-x86 4.2.x firmware).
As for whether a fix is coming for ARM too, hopefully Skywalker can comment. - CuriousMarkAspirantThere is an update from TiVo Support staff on this issue here:
http://forums.tivo.com/pe/action/forums/displaypost?postID=11082026&channelID=10&portalPageId=10432560
The text of the update is copied below:Hello,
Thank you all for your patience as we develop a solution for this issue. I wanted to provide an update which may help answer any questions you may have.
Fortunately we’ve identified the issue is a result of a bug within the TiVo DVR software and are planning on a patch for TiVo Desktop which will allow transfers to start functioning again. This affects Series 2, Series 3, and Series 4 DVRs. We are currently in the testing and validation process of the patch and will make it available as soon as possible. Once this patch is made available and applied, the transfer feature will be functional.
At this time, 3rd party applications and devices such as ReadyDLNA devices, Windows Home Server devices, Roxio Toast/Popcorn for Mac, the transfer feature’s availability will depend on how strict those devices are in allowing Transfers from a TiVo DVR with this bug. For reference, I’ve been made aware that Mac Software such as Roxio Toast continues to allow transfers but devices such as Netgear’s ReadyNAS which use ReadyDLNA are not allowing transfers.
Until a software update is made available for TiVo DVRs, these 3rd party devices and software may not allow transfers.
We have addressed this bug in the latest Series 4 release and expect to deploy an update on Series 2 and Series 3 which will address the bug as well. The availability date for these software updates is still to be determined.
Once I have more information around availability of the TiVo Desktop patch I will be sure to share.
Thank you again for your patience.

Here is a ReadyTiVo 1.3.12 ARM addon. You would install it from System->Settings->Update->Install Firmware. - denarius1AspirantThanks! I have installed it on my NV+ v2 and it is now archiving.
What should I expect regarding the items that had aborted attempts at archiving during the period the TiVo bug was affecting archiving? (A tiny .TiVo file was created for each.) Would they be already marked as archived in the database and therefore won't be copied? If so, is there anything I can do to get them to archive? If I change their TiVo status away from KUID for a period of time and back again, should I expect them to get archived?
Thanks. - SkywalkerNETGEAR ExpertThose would be counted as archived. However, you can use the dump/prune mechanism referenced at viewtopic.php?f=22&t=52439&p=298819#p298819 to get those recordings to re-archive.
- denarius1AspirantWoh, excellent info! Great to discover that I can affect what gets archived after things have gone wrong. Thank you.
- ttyszkiewiczAspirantI installed the ReadyTiVo v1.3.12 addon last night on one of my ReadyNAS Pro 4's. Come the scheduled time to archive, the ReadyNAS started to archive both TIVO Premieres that I had linked to it. It has now been working steadly over four hours catching up on it's archiving. Thank you Skywalker.
- ashanAspirantI am a novice when it comes to ReadyNAS & ReadyTiVo. I just purchased the Ultra 6 for archiving TiVo. Archiving failed until I installed the fix by Skywalker.
Now I have many 1kb .tivo files that are marked as archived. I read the post on the dump / prune mechanism. I looked at the c\media\Tivo directory on the ReadyNAS but cannot find the dump.txt or the prune.txt. Is there somewhere I can find a more detailed explanation on how to get files that are marked as archived to repeat the archive with the complete file. Thanks to anyone who can help this novice. - SkywalkerNETGEAR ExpertJust create an empty text file named dump.txt in \c\media\TiVo using Notepad (assuming you're using Windows).
