Using large HDD on readynas DUO V1
Hello,
I would like to use large disks in my Readynas DUO V1, but it cant see more than 1.5To/disk. It's a common formating problem.
I tried to install the ssh pluggin, but when i log in, the client close of with no error.
I know it's a debian inside the device, but how to use it as root ?
Or, does someone have a walkaround for using large capacity disks in this device ?
Thank you.

What firmware is the NAS running?
A duo v1 can use a 2 TB drive (which I use in my own Duo). But it can't handle disks larger than that (since it doesn't support GPT or advanced format disks). There is no workaround.

As noted above, ssh won't help you use disks > 2 TB.
However, your issue is almost certainly that you are using the wrong username. You log in as root, using the NAS admin password.

Thanks for your replies.
Is it a a SATA controler limitation ?- Marc_VNETGEAR Employee Retired
Hi bogdahn
Duo V1 has no support for GPT Format. It was mentioned also by StephenB on this post.
Certain X86 devices from Legacy NAS were able to be converted from MBR to GPT format getting them to support larger capacity disks however for SPARC units like to Duo V1 it was not possible.
You may want to plan on upgrading your NAS Unit to newer models using OS6 if you really want to use larger capacity disks :)
