Volume 'root' usage is 84%

The 4GB OS partition is getting full. Yes this is a cause for concern.

So you have any add-ons installed?

Are you using Plex Media Server on your NAS?

In the UI for Plex Media Server you can set the directory where Plex stores temporary files for transcodes to /apps/plexmediaserver/tmp

After making the change, reboot the NAS, download your logs zip file and check disk_usage.log to see how full the 4GB OS partition is.

I also got this warning, and got rid of it by deleting some log files in /var/log, together with deleting some large files sitting in /root.
That got the usage down to 72%, and after having looked at the size of all directories residing in all folders on /root, I cannot find any more large files/directories.

So... I am missing something, or is the normal value of usage on /root on the order of ca 70%?

Does anyone have a new NAS, without any add-ons installed, that can do a "df -h" and report back what percentage of / is used?

Btw, I am running a RN312 here. Installed CrashPlan on it (which requires Java), so some of / space will be taken there. I still would not expect space to run out that soon..

I have flex and the itunes server running, and my RN102 usage is about 76%.

Check Crashplan's cache size (/usr/local/crashplan/cache). Probably the guide should be revised, telling folks to put the cache on the data volume.

Yep, did that and it's about 300 MB. Deleting it will cause the cache to be rebuilt though, but it should be smaller at least.
Still it would be better to have this on a non root partition - I agree.

Can't seem to find where CrashPlan sets the log location though.. will dig in a bit more.


Edit: Same thing with the log files in /usr/local/crashplan/log too. Should be moved to non-root partition.

Hi, I have the same problem on crashplan with the cache and log file getting me up to 87% useage on the root partition

How can i move these to a different location? - I've been through all the obvious settings and can't seem to find where to do this

note the backup files already go to a \Crashplan folder

There is a variable in /usr/local/crashplan/conf/my.service.xml that holds the cache location. I haven't tried changing it, so I don't know what would happen if you did. I don't see anything about the logs.

You could also try creating a soft link to the /c/ volume somewhere.
