WAX220 Transmit power

Hello,

Can someone please confirm what the max/high transmit power (dbm) is on this unit on both 2/5ghz as its not listed anywhere, even the spec sheet.  Also if you have information on what Low/Med/High translates to in the settings.

thank you

Re: WAX220 Transmit power

What exactly do you need these data for?

Take it all these access points are operating near to the legally permitted radiated power for both the 2.4 and the 5 GHz radio, whereas the 5 GHz has very different limits depending on the channel configured. Configurable are typically 100%, 50%, and 25% of the max permitted levels.

In European ETSI, this translates to

2.4 GHz frequency band (2.4 - 2.4835 GHz)

Equipment in this frequency band can be used for indoor and outdoor applications. The maximum radiated power is limited to 100 mW.

The requirements applicable to such equipment are described in the radio interface regulation RIR1010-01.

Lower 5 GHz frequency band (5.15 to 5.35 GHz)

This frequency band can only be used for indoor applications. In the sub-band 5.15 to 5.25 GHz, the radiated power should not exceed 200 mW.

In the sub-band 5.25 to 5.35 GHz, the maximum radiated power is limited to 200 mW for equipment provided with TPC (transmit power control) function and to 100 mW for the others. DFS (dynamic frequency selection) is mandatory for all equipment.

The requirements applicable to the equipment are described in the radio interface regulation RIR1010-05.

Higher 5 GHz frequency band (5.47 to 5.725 GHz)

Equipment in this frequency band can be used for indoor and outdoor applications. The maximum radiated power is limited to 1 W for the equipment provided with TPC function and to 500 mW for the others. DFS is mandatory for all equipment.

The requirements applicable to such equipment are described in the radio interface regulation RIR1010-04.

For the FCC regulatory domain, please compare to the publicly available https://fcc.report/FCC-ID/PY321400546 for example.

Re: WAX220 Transmit power

I find it off that your asking why I need this.  Most manufactures will list what the power outputs are.  For example 30dbm=1W which is the highest allowed in the US.  But some stop at 25, some at 28, etc.  You sent me the frequencies for each channel and the maximum.  Units dont always transmit at maximum. Are you saying that Netgear units default to max on high ? I am looking for the specs on transmit power.

thank you

What's wrong asking what for people requesting something in a community? Some users think they need these data, seeking details for exporting or importing abroad.

To reach the best possible performance, all vendors go to as near as possible to the maximal permitted emission levels. Because - in case they go beyond - in some legislations the manufacturer, the vendor, or the importer has to face massive fines.

The You are talking to a community here, and I'm not Netgear.

Digging a little bit in the FCC approvals for the FCC IC: PY322200567

This does clearly show where you have to go for in case you need the best possible coverage on the WAC220 under the FCC regulatory. This became possible thanks to the https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-20-164A1.pdf  Amendment 1
