WAX630 disconnection issues

We purchased a NETGEAR® Insight Managed WiFi 6 AX6000 Tri-Band Multi-Gig Access Point (WAX630) a few months ago and ever since we installed it we've been getting disconnection issues when users connect their mobile devices to the AP.

It's not consistent as iOS and some Android devices can maintain a connection. But some such as a Galaxy-S10 as a token example can only connect for sometimes a minute before it disconnects and attempts to reconnect.

AP's firmware is V10.8.6.3 which I know isn't the latest. We'll be trying a firmware upgrade a the end of the week but I've seen elsewhere that this issue has existed on this AP since version 10.7.

An example of what I've seen in the diagnostic log for just one device:

Re: WAX630 disconnection issues

I’m seeing something similar, it doesn’t happen if I have the client use a VPN, and it doesn’t happen on my 3 other identical APs. Client that hits the problem most often is a Windows 11 laptop with an AX211 card

Re: WAX630 disconnection issues

Hi @JJEIT and @RainofTerra

Greeting!

Could you please share the AP logs collected at the time of the issue along with the client details (MAC, type, make, OS version)? We will definitely take a look at it.

I will DM my business email to both of you.

Thanks!

Pramendra

Re: WAX630 disconnection issues

I am having the same disconnects with WAX630 Firmware Version 10.8.11.4

Was a solution found for this issue. Is there a new firmware coming that will fix this or should  I downgrade? Thank you for any assistance.

Re: WAX630 disconnection issues

Hi @mcfarlak479,

The original post was having issues when on firmware version 10.8.6.3. Are you having the same exact issue but on the latest firmware?

Re: WAX630 disconnection issues

I had the problem on 10.8.11.4. I rolled back to 10.8.8.6 and still have the issue.

I have sent several logs to pramendra singh. I have not heard anything back.

Thanks

KMC

Re: WAX630 disconnection issues

Hi @mcfarlak479,

Can you please describe the specific issue you are having and also kindly answer the following:

1. How many WAX630 are you using and how far are they from each other?
2. Does client disconnect all at the same time?
3. How often does disconnection happen?
4. Is issue happening only to specific clients? What is the make and model?
5. Are/Is the AP managed locally or via Insight?

Re: WAX630 disconnection issues

1. I am using 8 WAX630 APs. They are 50ft - 100 ft apart. All separated typically by walls.

2. There are several clients that disconnect. Not all the same clients just random. I do believe that when a disconnect happens it is sometimes several clients at the same time.

3. Random disconnects. Seems to happen more with a larger number of clients online.

4. No specific clients. Brother 810W printers, Apple iPads, Mac Books, Samsung TVs..

5. All APs are managed via Insight.

Thank you.

KMC
