I recently recieved this hotspot router from AT&T. When they sold it to me they sent me a data sheet which said that it could be used as my Arlo base station. I have tried everything to figure out how to do this, but am having no luck! I can connect all of my wireless devices just fine, but no clue how to connect my camera system. I am currently without security and feeling very vulnerable!

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
Hi kdebauch,
I see that your M1 device is working properly because you have other wireless devices connected to it. I am going to move your post to the Arlo location of this community so you can have better assistance on your Arlo devices.

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
It's my understanding that the US version of the M1 is not currently capable of being used as a base station for Arlo wireless cameras. The Australian version does support htis. Dunno if/when the firmware will be updated for support.
Right now you need to plug a base into the Ethernet port, if the M1 has one. Otherwise, use a WiFi extender that's connected to your WiFi so the base can connect via the extender's Ethernet port.

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
Jason, your response is false and completely opposite to the actual truth. My Arlo system works fine. The M1 is not allowing me to connect the Arlo to it. The ethernet port on the M1 does not recognize anything when connected. I have tried connecting it directly to my laptop, a 5 port unmanaged switch, as well as a router. None of these devices receieved any activity from the ethernet port on the M1.

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
Not sure Jason is going to see this. Since the Ethernet port seems to be dead, I would either swap it at an ATT store or contact Netgear support and open a case for replacement.

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
Do you think it is faulty? I wondered if that were the case, but AT&T told me that was normal for the port to not recognize any connections on the M1. I have never owned one before, so I have no way to confirm or deny this. Sucks that this got moved to the wrong section of the forum!

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
I woulda thunk the port would be active but anything is possible.
Repost in the appropriate forum and just leave the Arlo-specific part out or at least reference that any device, including Arlo, can't use the port.

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
Hi kdebauch,
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I was thinking that all your other devices could connect to the M1 but your Arlo system couldn't.
Let me look into the issue on the faulty Ethernet port and will get back to you. :]

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
Hi kdebauch,
If you can refer to the link below. It is a thread in the Arlo side of the community. A firmware will be coming out to have the Arlo base station be able to connect to the Nighthawk M1 (AT&T provider model).
Please be patient. :]

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
I've downloaded the firmware update, and when I go into the Arlo app to "Add Device" and select Mobile Router I am getting an error message that the mobile router cannot be detected. I've read a few things that tell me I need to allow Arlo on the Netgear Mobile App, but I have looked through it and have not been able to find anywhere that I can do this. I have tried it from a computer also, and have tried doing it while connected to the internet through the wifi of the Mobile Router and while not connect to the mobile router. The one I am using is the MR1100 AT&T US Version. Is there something I am missing? Any help on how I either get the Netgear app to allow Arlo or how to get the Arlo App to recognize the mobile router would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
A. You are connected via Wi-Fi to the M1 and
B. You have enabled Arlo on the app
Enjoy

Re: Nighthawk M1 with Arlo Base Station
Thanks for replying. Thats what I had assumed, but I guess the issue is that I'm not able to find where I enable Arlo on the Netgear Mobile app. I am connected to the WIFI on the M1, I open the Netgear Mobile app, but after that I can't seem to find where the "Enable Arlo" is. I've looked through everything that I can see in the app, and there isn't a clear path to Enable Arlo. Sorry for the trouble, but would you be able to provide some assistance as to the path you took within the netgear app to enable the Arlo? I'm guessing that there might be a button on the initial screen that I just don't have.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
