Netgear Genie (on both iOS and PC) wouldn't allow me to perform Parental Control.
Genie App on PC is stuck saying "You don't appear to be connected to Internet ..." and "Identifying your Router".
I have done FW upgrade of the router as well as the factory reset but it did not help.
Appreciate any help.

You are correct! After I downgraded to FW version V1.0.0.56_1.0.18, things are working again. I hope that Netgear takes note of this and fixes this in the next version of the FW.

Same problem here. Seemed to happen after the firmware update.

By "new" do you mean "older"? If you extract the files from the zip
archive, then you should get a ".chk" file which is the firmware file,
and an "XXX_Release_Notes.html" file which should include installation
instructions.

Have the kid install the firmware?

Re: Netgear Genie - Parental Control Not working
thanks for the reply. No the firmware was installed within the genie app/window. It prompted me to update the firmware, so I did and then the parental control quit working. The kid did not mess with my computer.

Re: Netgear Genie - Parental Control Not working
Yes, V1.0.0.62 is the problematic one. I would recommend that you downgrade to one of the earlier version. I downloaded and installed V1.0.0.56 from:
https://www.netgear.com/support/download/
And the Parental Conrol is back on!

Re: Netgear Genie - Parental Control Not working
Thank You very much. downloading is not a problem installing is. Should I go through the Netgear website to install it? It was not letting me install after I unzip the file and hit upload. It would say it was reset.

My point was that if the kid is more "sav[v]y", then he might have
more success with the firmware update.

And the problem is?

What, exactly, does "the Netgear website" mean to you? As usual,
showing actual actions with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations. Copy+paste is your friend.

What, exactly, did you get when you "unzip the file"? What, exactly,
are you trying to "upload"? "hit upload" where, exactly? What,
exactly, would say what, exactly?

Re: Netgear Genie - Parental Control Not working
You should try installing by visiting routerlogin.net website on your browser (default username and password are: admin, password respectively). And then click on:
- ADVANCED > Administration.
- Click Firmware Update or Router Update and then choose the FW file location.

Re: Netgear Genie - Parental Control Not working
Thank You Sir. I followed the instructions, downloaded the previous version of Firmware (V1.o.0.56.1.0.18) and then in the genie I enabled the parental control and it started working. Thank You so much for your guidance and help. I really appreciate it.
