FVS318G Version 3.1.1-18 stii safe to use

Hallo,

the last firmware update is from July 2014. Is the box still supported and so safe to use?

Thank you.

Re: FVS318G Version 3.1.1-18 stii safe to use

Hi Bill_s,

Welcome to the community! 🙂

As far as I know, although the FVS318Gv2 (v for version) has been out in the market, the FVS318Gv1 is not yet EOL (End-of-Life).  You may double-check it here.

Regarding warranty, let me share this article.

Re: FVS318G Version 3.1.1-18 stii safe to use

Hallo DaneA,

thank for the eol-link. I have checked FVS318G and found it listed as replacement. So I conclude it is supported.

I have another netgear box: FVS318V3 with latest update 3.0_28 from march 2011 which is a long time ago.

Here the same applies? If it is not listed on the eol-page it is supported and has no known security flaw?

Thank you again.

Regards,

Bill

Re: FVS318G Version 3.1.1-18 stii safe to use

Hi Bill_s,

The FVS318v3 has no indication that it is EOL.   However, it has been many years that there is no new firmware updates for the FVS318v3.   For me, I could consider this as EOL because its specifications are way too behind compared to the new NETGEAR ProSAFE Firewalls like the FVS318Gv2 or FVS336Gv3.  It seems that the NETGEAR EOL list should be updated and it should include the FVS318v3.

Regards,
