Purchasing a firewall to use extender eax80

Hello, I bought the Nighthawk EAX80 wifi 6 mesh extender through Amazon, it was a refurbished item and I got it for 100 dollars less. After trying to set it up, I thought I was set with the extender but after a month or so, I noticed that the extender wasnt on the network anymore. I went thru Netgears mywifiext/ and was told I needed to purchase a firewall in order for my extender to work. Did I get scammed or is this normal.

Where ever you went - this stinks like the typical criminals scam. This was certainly not Netgear.

If your Web browser does open mywifiext .net or mywifiext .com and it does not hit the WiFi extender, an informative page from Netgear does show up. Any other similar looking pake is fake, almost anything your favorite search engine does propose on similar names is the start into Scam.
