4350 multiple routers for a/v

I have a video over ip system (transmit receiver bluestream to send hdmi to monitors on a network)

4x 4350 switches with sfp modules to link

is 'stacking' how i need to configure this?

They will be wired in a spider configuration and there will be sends and receives across the multiple routers.

Re: 4350 multiple routers for a/v

Setting up a video over IP system requires careful network planning. Stacking switches may simplify management and improve performance, but its necessity depends on switch capabilities, bandwidth needs, and network complexity.

Consider these:

  • Network design: Use a dedicated VLAN for video traffic, enable IGMP snooping for efficient multicast management, and implement QoS to prioritize video data.
  • Switch configuration: Ensure SFP module compatibility and consider link aggregation for better bandwidth and redundancy.
  • Bluestream Setup: Properly configure encoders, decoders, and multicast addressing.
  • Testing & Monitoring: Perform thorough testing and monitor network performance to prevent issues.

I recommend you to check switch and Bluestream documentation and start with a simple setup before scaling.

Hi @Jeffhtg

I would temper @adithya11 response a bit (big thanks to him/her though) - and go simpler:

Please use the step by step application notes here: https://www.netgear.com/hub/business/av/av-tech-guides/

When onboarding your AV Line switches (M4350) in Engage, firmware will be updated. Please use approved 10G or 25G modules, and no - stacking is absolutely not advised. Please keep the switches standalone in Engage (www.netgear.com/engage), with enough bandwidth for the video streams. The only configuration you need to do is under Site Settings, edit the default VLAN 1, and apply the Video+Audio AES67 profile. Apply until the end, and Save on the upper right.

NETGEAR AV is certified at Bluestream, and we have a dedicated Bluestream profile coming in the next weeks - but for now you will be perfectly covered with the Video+AES67 Audio generic profile, if you follow the app notes above!

You can get back to us for any support, sending an email to ProAVDesign@netgear.com
