Can't Unstack GSM7252PS / GSM7228PS
I'm having several issues, but they may all be related to stacking...
I successfully stacked two GSM7252PS and one GSM7228PS using the front SFP ports and Infiniband cables. Prior to stacking the switches, I configured each of them at a different IP address. Once I stacked them, I could manage all three units by logging into the address of the stack master.
Then I needed to remove the 7228PS from the stack and relocate it from the MDF to an IDF in the building, and I created a LAG group and added four ports in my MDF stack and four ports in the 7228PS in the IDF to the LAG. However, the LAG state is DOWN, and it looks like all traffic is traversing a single port, probably because STP has blocked the other three ports in the group.
Another problem is that when I log into the unstacked 7228PS, I can still see all three switches, although statistics pertaining to ports on the two other switches are missing from the view I'm seeing on the unstacked switch.
Yet another problem is that when I administratively disable PoE on a port on the 7228PS, the port is still powering a device that has no other source of power except PoE, despite the fact that it shows DISABLED in the PoE port configuration screen.
On the positive side, hosts connected to any of the switches can talk to hosts on any of the other switches, but I'm not getting the benefit of link aggregation between the MDF and IDF.
I've tried rebooting all three switches with the LAG links connected, as well as with the LAG links unplugged, but they still look like their stacked.
...And does anyone have any idea why my LAG state is DOWN ?
But most importantly, how do I UNSTACK the 7228PS ?
Thank you !

I didn't try a factory reset because I don't want to lose my port configurations, PoE settings, VLANs, PVIDs, LAG, etc., and if things are so messed up right now that PoE and LAGs and Stacking are messed up, won't I just reintroduce the problems if I restore from a backed up config ?
But this begs a larger question... Once you stack these switches, is a factory reset the only way to remove a switch(es) from the stack ? (or should they be able to return themselves to an unstacked configuration on their own, when they reboot and see that they are no longer stacked ?)

Re: Can't Unstack GSM7252PS / GSM7228PS
The trick seems to be that you can DELETE a switch from the stack (System>Stacking>Advanced>Stack Configuration) if you boot the stack manager switch WITHOUT the switch(es) you want to delete connected to the stack manager, and the switch(es) status in the stack shows as "not present". If the switch(es) you want to delete are active members of the stack, you can't delete them.
Hope that helps someone !
