M4100-D12G Clear RAM and disable DHCP.

OK, here goes nothing...

Realize this, it's been about 20 years since I had a course in Routers, Bridges and Switches. I've been retired from that job for 11 years, presently just repairing slot machines at a casino.

I am in receipt of a M4100-D12G switch. I got it legally from work as they were going to throw it away. It is relatively new, but glitched about once a week and knocked out at least one gaming machine in a bank of six. The Gaming machine manufacturer sent a new switch to replace this one and the supervisor game it to me to "experiment with".

I did get past resetting the password but I would like to know how to disable the DHCP.

(tiny tag on top of the unit reads; "DHCP ENALED" (next line) "ATI P/N 07-30089")

It may have "other" software installed on it as well that would need to be purged and replaced.

My ultimate goal would be to use it at home with my home network.

Granted at this time I have but six (6) network enabled devices, 2 computers, printer, Arlo, Sam Knows and a cable card tuner, but that's right now. (numerous WiFi thingies)

Help and guidance for a senior citizen, Vietnam era veteran would be greatly appreciated.

Cordially,

Gerry

Re: M4100-D12G Clear RAM and disable DHCP.

As a managed switch, it requires a IP configuration - either from a DHCP server (thus DHCP enabled) or by deploying a static IP config.

Consult the nice documentation - e.g. the User Manual ref. the Factory Reset https://www.netgear.com/support/product/m4100-d12g%20(gsm5212v1h1).aspx#docs

Re: M4100-D12G Clear RAM and disable DHCP.

Thanks, I got it done before your reply, but could not find my original request on here to say I got it done.

I fortunately had a copy of "PuTTY" to communicate via USB tocresaet User, Password and assign an IP address. After that it was a cinch with the menu system and html interface.

Thanks Just the same!
