Netgear M4100-D12 Documentaion for Resetting Passwords via Hyperterminal Inconsistencies

I tried to go into the M4100-D12 to reset passwords via the Hyperterminal instructions and had nothing but problems.

 

First Hyperterminal for Windows 10 does not exist.  You have to get a trial copy of a 3rd party app.

 

Documentation for resetting password is located I believe in 4 different locations online from Netgear.  3 of the 4 locations gave erronious or bad information.  Please consolidate the info sources to just one so only the correct page is online.  Most list FLOW CONTROL as NONE.  Correct setting is XON/XOFF.  Also speed on most is listed as 9600 but correct is 115200kbps.

 

I tried for 2 hours fumbling around but was still not able to get the switch to respond to my input via the USB serial interface after loading the USB to serial driver.  I finally got readable feedback instead of garbage when I "finally" found the correct settings.  But it appeared my input was not being responded to.  I finally gave up.

 

Does anyone know of a Netgear page for this that actually has the right settings and works and adresses all this? 

 

Since Hyterterminal is dropped from Windows can Netgear give a software package that will work instead of having to download a trial of a 3rd party software (problem is using 3rd party you are not sure if it is their problem or whosever)?

 

And again, "please" consolidate all support pages to a single resource so I do not lose hours of my time because of out dated or bad information.

      Thanks for responding.

       

      That is the 3rd set of settings I have seen.  The main problem is Netgear web site has multiple pages for the same item.  And they are not in sync...

       

      Correct serial settings:

       

      115200,N,8,1  and NO FLOW CONTROL

       

      Checking for application  q  (you enter "q" within 2 seconds of seeing that line)

       

      It would still be nice to see a Hyperterminal program like app from Netgear (at least a recommended one) since Hyperterminal is no longer supported in new versions of Windows.  I have 27 (?) days remaining in the free trial program I scrounged.  But then what?

       

      Plowing along and at least greatful I can finally interect with the Netgear unit serial stuff. 

       

      Anyone know the correct password for the "17 - Start Diagnostics Application" ???

        For the HyperTerminal program, you may use PuTTy.  You may download PuTTy here

         

        Have you tried to select "13 - Password Recovery Procedure?"  Kindly post screenshots or images that shows the output on your end as you follow the procedures on the link I have provided.  

         

        Also, you may want to open an online case with NETGEAR Support for further assistance.  Kindly state your concern and what procedure(s) you have done so far.
