stack switch configuration sync

Hello

we have a stack  of 3 switches.

**Question**:  When configuration a configuration change is done,   do the settings automatically go to the Standby switches?

I ask because   one time  we changes a setting - dhcp helper address -  and when another switch took over as master,  that setting was not on the switch.   Now that could have been due to operator error - like not saving the configuration.

Re: stack switch configuration sync

Hi Rob

I believe you have a stack of Fully Managed switches, M4300 series.

Yes, configuration is shared across the stack. When there is a configuration change, the settings in running configuration are synchronized across all switches in the stack (stack master = management unit; backup master = standby management unit; stack members = slaves). The same, but independently, the startup configuration file is also shared across all switches in the stack.

But, in a Fully Managed switch, any configuration change must saved in order to see the "running configuration" (show run) saved as "startup configuration" file that will survive the reboot.

I am afraid the configuration wasn't saved in your instance below. I hope this helps.

Regards,
