Account rename
Are there any downsides or potential issues with renaming a user account?
I would like to avoid having to create a new account with the preferred username and then transfer files from the old to the new account just because I need to change the username.
Device: ReadyNAS (314) is currently running "6.10.4 Hotfix"

Re: Account rename
I don't know of any downside to just changing the user name.
Though you can't change admin of course.

Re: Account rename
I just ran some tests, and did not find any issues. File and folder permissions follow the UID, of course, so no issues there. And the user folder is properly renamed and made accessable via SMB and NFS. I don't have a way to test other protocols.
It does require that you put in a password for the "new" user, so it'll be changed unless you know the old one and just put it in again.

Re: Account rename
Thanks for looking into this and verifying that there are no issues with changing the username. I'll give it a try on my NAS.
