Drive Trays sold separately?

Hi,

I've got a ReadyNAS DuoV2 and a 104.
Both use a similar tray system...
Are these trays available separately?
And are there any 5,25" bays you can build into you PC to insert those trays?

thanks

I think you can buy them from Amazon, they're a bit pricey though. I do not see the purpose on building one on a PC, the NAS is using Linux OS.

The trays on Amazon, I think would be the ones for the Duo v2. Though you can use those trays in the 104 as well.

What do you want to purchase additional drive trays for?

Re: Drive Trays sold separately?

Well, my PC does use Linux (Ubuntu to be precise), the RN104 too (Debian).
And I don't use RAID since I don't want to. (I don't trust RAID, LVM etc)

I moved one disk from NAS to PC, and the one from PC back to the NAS because the PC had run out of space.
(took many hours of copy and verify)

For operations like compressing huge amounts of data it's a good idea to temporary insert the drive into the PC, because the ARM is incredible slow if it comes to number crunching.

Currently I don't need a tray for the PC, but I am sure sometime it would be useful.
I already got a "slot-in", which takes bare drives. But you have to remove the Netgear tray before insert.

Do you know any part number for these trays?

Yes. Do be careful not to buy the tray for the old rackmount ReadyNAS (1100, etc). They won't fit in the desktop chassis.
