MTU settings not persistent in LACP mode
Hi,
I faced some "slow" network performance (18mb/s) while writing to my NVX Business. I found that there was heavy packet fragmentation.
So I changed the MTU in Frontview from 1500 to 1492. That boosts the writing speed by factor 2.5 (~ 45mb/s)
The problem : the MTU setting is not persistent. After reboot of NAS the setting is back to 1500.
Why ? Is there a way to force the MTU to 1492 on boot via e.g. some init script ?
Changed MTU stays while running in the network in non-teaming modes.
NVX is running in 802.3ad LACP (Layer2)
RAIDiator 4.2.24
thx & regards
Kivas

Re: MTU settings not persistent in LACP mode
I'm not sure why the setting isn't persistent.
Do you know why your other equipment requires the MTU to be 1492? What switch are you you using?

Re: MTU settings not persistent in LACP mode
Hi,
that MTU changes are not persistent looks like a real Bug.
Why my network needs that change....I can´t answer...I´ve already spent hours on that. My guess is that there is some strange behaviour in Windows 7 and my network cards or some problem with SMB and MTU, or or or. But I gave up on this....
Switch was a Netgear GS108Tv2 and is now a DLink DGS-1210-28 - but makes no difference.

Re: MTU settings not persistent in LACP mode
Did you attempt to probe the path MTU with ping?
ping NASIP -f -l -1472
and
ping NASIP -f -l 1464
ping NASIP -f -l -1472
and
ping NASIP -f -l 1464
