My very first NAS - readynas
Hello world!,
I just bought my very first NAS and it is a RNDP600U. - and i already have 4 x 3TB western digital green caviar disks to put in the NAS when it arrives.
So i was wondering if any of you have some tips / tricks for me or things i should pay attention to.
the setup i had in mind is a RAID 6 - and in time put 2 more 3tb disks in there.
What i want to do with it?
File storage and streaming to a Playstation 3 if possible. i now use ps3mediaserver to stream directly from my desktop.
Are there any useful addons you might recommend?

Re: My very first NAS - readynas
hi, the only problems i encountered setting up my first nas were share names - do not create a share with the same name as any of your pcs or windows logins as it confuses the whole setup. took me a long time to figure this out. so to cap it off - share names must be unique.
i use mines through my ps3,laptop and iphone for streaming music and showing photos with no issues
