Power Light Flashing

Hi,

Can someone please help?

I have just installed an RN21200 after the previous unit died. I have a few issues,

1. Blue power light is constantly flashing (unit is up & running fine!).

2. Unit does not recognise external backup drive when plugged into any of the USB ports.

3. When I log onto the unit via a browser it does not show fan speed or the UPS that is plugged in (APC CS350).

Don't know if this is of any importance but the 2 x SATA hard drives were just taken out of the old dead unit & installed into the new one with no setup required!

Thanks in advance

Model: RN21200|ReadyNAS 212 Series 2- Bay (Diskless)

What NAS did you have before?

Hi StephenB,

Thanks for your reply & apologies for the delay!

The product number on the underside of the old unit reads - RND2000-200EUS.

A label above this also states model number - RND-2B

Just to confirm - does it say "Duo v2" on the front chassis?

If so, the drives are formatted differently in the RN212. Check the status with RAIDar (https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads ).

It sounds like you have a backup of the old NAS - is that correct?

Re: Power Light Flashing

Hi,

Yes it does say Duo v2 on the front!

What I don't understand is that i got the new NAS box straight out of the packaging & plugged one (just to be cautious) of the two original drives in. The unit then appeared to have all the original settings (i.e. unit name, IP address, shares & data etc.).

Yes I do have a backup on external hard disc!

I don't own any v2 systems, so this isn't something I can try myself.  But the guidance from Netgear is that you can only mount the v2 file system temporarily - and that requires assistance from support.  So I don't understand this either.

Then you should do a factory default from the boot menu (see pages 50-51 here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-100/ReadyNAS_%20OS6_Desktop_HM_EN.pdf ).  Then configure your new NAS and load the files from your backup disk.
