ReadNAX X6 undocumented blinking leds pattern
I have been owner of a ReadyNAS X6 for nearly 10 years, probably one of the first model.
My X6 is very ill. When I turn it on, the led 1,3 and 4 flash alternatively with led 2. It won't show up in Raidar. I have the most up-to-date software, although I can't tell which version it is right now.
I cannot find an explanation of this led pattern.
Anyone know what it is?
I'm also willing to take my 4 2TB disks in a new box. Is that possible???
Thanks.

Check this link about the LED patterns on ReadyNAS: http://www.readynas.com/download/docume ... S-LEDA.pdf
I doubt if your existing drives will still be compatible with newer ReadyNAS models. However, check the compatibility list of drives here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641

Re: ReadNAX X6 undocumented blinking leds pattern
That error means either your RAM Is not properly seated or that it has failed. Considering the age of the system and if you haven't moved the system recently I would suspect that the RAM has failed.
See the X6 Rev B light patterns here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21437/~/what-does-this-light-pattern-mean%3F-(led)
Yes the X6 was one of the early models from back in the Infrant days.

I can see the light pattern on the Rev B sheet, not the Rev A one. So patrice_readynas probably has a X6 Rev B.

Re: ReadNAX X6 undocumented blinking leds pattern
Thank you all!!!
I can clearly see my blinking pattern in the Rev B document. I will get a new memory bar.
Cheers.

Re: ReadNAX X6 undocumented blinking leds pattern
Make sure it has the same physical layout as the original module and similar specs.
For OS4 we recommend a minimum of 256MB RAM though you can use more.
Be sure to run a few runs of the memory test boot menu option before trusting the memory.
Do note that even if the memory test is successful the memory it may still be incompatible.
We don't support 3rd party memory upgrades.
As for your other question of moving to a newer NAS. The RAID format is different, however if you purchased a new NAS e.g. a 314, our support team does have a procedure to copy the data off e.g. to a USB disk. You would have to follow the instructions of our support team carefully and not insert the disks until prompted. Note that depending on the state of your disks, array etc. there may be a charge for this.
