ReadyNAS 104, firmware version 6.10.8 (latest, it says). Amazon Drive photo backups no longer work

I used to back up my photos to Amazon Drive using the facility in the Cloud tab of the ReadNAS Admin web interface.  But Amazon say this facility has ended (at the end of 2023).  The backups certainly don't appear to be working any more, and there is a red block by the Amazon Drive settings on the Cloud tab.  Amazon say to use Amazon Photos now.  My question is:  Will there be a backup facility in the Cloud tab to back up to Amazon Photos?

Netgear is clearly exiting the NAS business and if there is ever an update other than for security issues, I will be flabbergasted.  The latest OS is actually 6.10.10, but the only things it lists are some security issues (in 6.10.9) and removal of ReadyCloud and app uploads in 6.10.10.  Niether is on the update server, so you have to install them manually.

The removal of app installs would complicate installing any fix you might find.

Thank you, both of you.  It's a pity it has been discontinued, but there we are.  I will stay on the firmware version that I'm on in case I need to try a fix, but I have now switched over to using the Windows Desktop version of Amazon Photos and backing up my photos on the ReadyNAS via that.  It works.  As an aside:  It works except that I wanted to back up my 50,000 photos to the same locations as existed before, but instead it added a folder called Pictures and put the sub-folders in there, all of which are empty because I said no duplicates.  So I need to move all 50,000 photos to their respective folders under the Pictures folder, and I'm not sure what is the best way without uploading the lot.  Any ideas?

As painful as it is, I would recommend looking at other NAS options. I recently ran into issues with my ReadyNAS and was unable to get solutions as Netgear is slowly turning off features for this product line. Look at the Synology options. I switched over about 4 months ago, and I have been really impressed with their product. Synology offers the option to sync many cloud platforms with their devices. Backup options seem far superior as well. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Seems like a good solution. I have 2 x 4TB discs in my ReadyNAS 104, in parallel so to speak. They use the ReadyNAS proprietary system RAID level: X-RAID2, RAID status: Redundant. Would you know if I can easily transfer these discs plus dasta to a Synology unit?

There is not a way to keep the data on those disks and put them into the new synology unit. The first step of setting up a new unit is to format the disks and install the synology operating system on them (which would erase all of your data). I kept my old ReadyNAS and I am now using it as a local backup for my synology NAS. It was easy to transfer the files from the ReadyNAS to the synology using the "file backup" feature on the ReadyNAS.

I used this video as a guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CQUsQcjQyE

Also look at SapceRex's videos on youtube for help on choosing a synology unit and setting it up.

This is the process I used to move from my ReadyNas Duo (RNas) to a WD EX4 some years ago.  Took a while to complete the transfer as I recall.  I ran both the RNas and EX4 for a time with the EX4 being my primary storage.  After a few months, I shut the RNas down and it just sat on my shelf for a few years.  After my EX4 went EOL, I brought the RNas back online with a fresh format.   This time used the backup tools to backup my critical data (pictures, videos, documents, etc.) from the EX4 back to the RNas.  I don't get everything from the EX4, just what would hurt if I lost.

Nice part is I have the RNas on a power schedule as well as a backup schedule.  So it wakes up, does the require backups, then shuts off.
