ReadyNas Pro Business Edition (6 drives) - New CPU installed and temps

Hi all, today I just installed the CPU E7600 in the system. Now just need to find some RAM (4GB) next upgrade.

I have latest BIOS and OS 6.9.5

Using the balance settings for fan

CPU fan at 1300 RPM

System fan at 1030 RPM

Temps

CPU Temp is always at 35c

System from 49c to 53c using the balance option.

I find it strange the System temp is higher than the CPU temp. The CPU don't change much !

Are the temps read correctly ?

At the moment I have 1GB of memory installed and running at 800 Mhz

Anyway to find if the CPU is running at full speed (3000 Mhz) and at 1066 Mhz ?

Thank you

Re: ReadyNas Pro Business Edition (6 drives) - New CPU installed and temps

Hi,

If you check the attached pic, i have more or less the same setup.

The pic is under load so it's a bit higher than normal.

Second is that i have a bit higher ambient temperature. Around 22-23 degrees celsius.

Forgot to mention that its an Q6600 that have an higher temp from start.. 105W vs 95W

Regards

CPU temp is notoriously mis-reported, especially at lower tmperatures.  It's an Intel issue, not a Netgear one.  I have seen indications that the NAS may have a low temperature threshold, below which never gets reported because it's just so unrelaiable (and well below any danger point).

There are posts here where Netgear said the low readings were clamped.  It sounded like that might depend on the CPU family (atom processors might be treated differently from others).
