What about adding drivers for USB modem?
Add driver to support USB fax modem and make it as a printer device (print to fax) so that I can send and receive fax anywhere in the world.
Or is there already someone using a USB fax modem? If yes please advise what brand and model number that is working. Thanks.

Re: What about adding drivers for USB modem?
I think that this is a great idea and would be the perfect addition to the readynas.
The unit is great but some more SOHO add-on would make it even better.
getting somethink like Hylafax to work with a USB modem 😄

Re: What about adding drivers for USB modem?
Considering the interaction needed to send a fax, it would seem to me to be far more efficient to use the general purpose PC you have. The ReadyNAS is not a general purpose PC (afterall there is no monitor or keyboard attachements), but a file server. For that use it is great.

using it as a fax server could not mean that you need a keyboard and monitor. this can be done tho a web interface.
people use the unit as a web server and a bit-torrent server. it used as a fax server will just make it more handy in the SOHO environment.
as web server are normal out in the cloud and SOHO do not on the hole use bit-torrenting
