Will my Duo v2 support 2x4TB Seagate ST4000DM000 drives?
I'm wondering if my ReadyNAS Duo v2 will work with two 4TB Seagate ST4000DM000 hard drives and be able to utilize the full 4TBs. I don't care if this will void my warranty or if the ST4000DM000 is officially supported on the Duo v2 or not (I'm sure its not). I'm just wondering if X-Raid2 will have issues automatically recognizing the 4TB drives and expanding the raid array to the full 4TB capacity (I'm currently using 2x2TB drives).
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Will my Duo v2 support 2x4TB Seagate ST4000DM000 drives?
Howdy mdgm! You helped me out a long while ago when I first got the Duo v2 and Frontview didn't have options for increasing the drive spin-down time. Thanks again for that!
So I'm running what my Duo v2 thinks is the latest firmware, 5.3.8. Apparently 5.3.9 has been released but when I do an update the Duo v2 tells me I'm using the latest firmware. I should be able to manually update it to 5.3.9 if necessary.

You should be able to use 4TB disks. Some users have run into issues though when the volume gets very full of not being able to write.

Interesting. How full? Have they been able to safely use up to 3TB of space? If so it probably won't be a problem for me.
Thanks

I think users have had issues around the 80% mark.

That's too bad, hopefully there will be a fix for that at some point. It probably won't be a problem for me, I usually upgrade before I get to 80%.
Thanks for your help. I'll be installing the 4tb drives this week, hopefully it goes smoothly. I think it will. Thanks again.

There is a fix (update firmware, backup data and do a factory default) but some users still report having issues.
