Hello Guys. .
I have got one readynas device. WHen i was trying to connect the server i am geting management service is offline .
So i am not able to do any setup here. Even i have tried to restart also.
Can anyone tell me the step by step procedure to configure the device ?
My requirement is that i have got one windows 2008 server which the hard disk space is almost full. So i wanted to add the readynas drive to the windows server.
i am using this server as a file sharing purpose. I dont have much idea about this NAS drive.
Please tell me to do the procedure from the begining.
Please help me to resolve the issue . .
Thank you

Ah that is probably it.
ReadyNAS OS 6.2.x does not support volumes > 16TB.
If you want a volume > 16TB you should run 6.4.0 beta. I would suggest doing a factory default after the upgrade.

Re: management service is offline readynas
If there is no data loss, you can
(a) test the disks with vendor tools on a PC (seatools for seagate, lifeguard for western digital). Unformat the drives (for instance with windows disk manager) or zero them (with either of the vendor tools) while you are at it.
(b) insert one of drives (after testing) into the 2120, and see if that does the proper factory install. If it does, update the firmware to the current production level.
How many drives are you installing, and what model?

what drive model? exactly? Seagate ST8000AS0002 or the Ultrastar Helium? Or something else?
If you got the Seagates, that is likely the problem right there. They are not meant for NAS, and the write speeds are extremely slow.

Which of these steps are you finding confusing?
(a) test the disks with vendor tools on a PC (seatools for seagate, lifeguard for western digital). Unformat the drives (for instance with windows disk manager) or zero them (with either of the vendor tools) while you are at it.
(b) insert one of drives (after testing) into the 2120, and see if that does the proper factory install. If it does, update the firmware to the current production level.
Have you read the on-line manuals (hardware and software)?
