update rnd2150v2 from raidar 4.1.1.6 to raidiator arm 5.3.11

okay oldtimers...I need your help...

I have a rnd2150v2 (yes v2 and for some reason it never shows up on any previous model).  It is stamped on the back with a sticker rnd2150v2.

Everything is working okay but i need to ask the "knowledgeable ones" some questions because my old brain is not kicking in here.

1)  if I currently have raidar 4.1.1.6 firmware installed and it works fine but I'm interested in the raidiator-arm 5.3.11.  Is it possible to use this?  I read a few places that this will work and the layout is interesting.  Like I said though the raidar 4.1.1.6 is totally working fine.  Please let me know if I am getting into somewhere I shouldn't go because I mainly use this for my home networking and really don't want to screw all that up....just interested in the know hows...

thanks for you time and I hope to hear back any interesting info...

Raidiator 4.1.1.6 firmware is the correct firmware version for your ReadyNAS

Raidiator 5.3.11. is NOT, so do not even go there

4.1.16 Smiley Wink

@CRUZZIN7  The v2 label doesn't mean that you think it does.  You have a sparc-based NAS (called a v1 here).  The Arm based NAS (which does run 5.3.x firmware) would say "Duo v2" on the front chassis - not buried in the part number.

RAIDar is a PC application.  https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads

The firmware on your NAS is branded RAIDiator, and 4.1.16 is the final version.  Netgear stopped manufacturing it in 2011, and stopped releasing firmware updates in 2017.

The current entry-level ReadyNAS is the RN212, which runs OS 6.  It's a lot faster and has more features than your Duo.

Is there an issue with your current NAS?  Or were you just checking to see if you were running the latest firmware?

I am not currently experiencing any problems with it just wanted to push the envelope a little more.  For some reason i thought the version was a 2 when i bought it and it's just the old v1.  i currently use it for my home networking and with the external usb ports I'm currently getting a whopping 18 terrabytes...so I'm good just hanging onto the grandfathered super reliable NAS.

Thanks for your time...it's much appreciated!
