I have a new R8500 nighthawk router I just purchased and the first of the two 5GHz wifi networks seems to be dead. No devices can connect to it although it show white led light on the router and its SSID shows full bars when I try to connect to it from various devices.
2.4GHz and the second 5GHz networks work bsolutely fine. I reset the router to factory settings but that had zero effect. Not sure what else I can try. I updated the firmware on the router to the latest available version. I would be grateful for any troubleshooting suggestions.

I did try that - did not help.
Anyway, I've returned the unit to Amazon and got a replacement one which has no such issues. All my devices can connect to both 5G networks.
So it seems my first unit had some hardware issue. But it's all good now. Thanks for your help.

Re: 1st 5G wifi network on R8500 seems to be dead
I discovered that my old devices: ipad air and iphone 5s can connect to the first 5GHz network but none of the newer devices (ipad pro, iphone 6s, imac 2017) can connect. Any clue in that? I also tried different firmware versions: 1.0.2.128, 1.0.2.122 and 1.0.2.116 but that had no effect on anything.
